Obama’s hell-bent against energy independence

It’s a fact.

For whatever reason, Barack Obama seems hell-bent on keeping massive new Canadian oil discoveries from ever reaching U.S. refineries or consumers.

Of course, study after study by his own State Department has proved the Keystone XL Pipeline’s environmental safety. And the pipeline is far safer than transporting the oil on rail through U.S. cities.

But never underestimate his excuse-making ability when control of the economy is at stake.

Now he’s announced they’re delaying approval indefinitely, until they know exactly which route through Nebraska it will take.

But the fact is, Obama’s every study has concluded that changing the exact route would not affect the pipeline’s safety.

Obama’s endless excuses are getting so bad that even some of his fellow Democrats are bailing out to avoid political damage to themselves.

Noting “there are 42,000 jobs, $20 billion in economic activity and North America’s energy security at stake,” Senator Mary Landrieu (who is facing a tough reelection bid) called the announcement “irresponsible, unnecessary and unacceptable.”

Senator Mark Pryor (also in political trouble) said “there’s no excuse for another delay.”

And Senator Mark Begich, who also happens to be up for reelection, went so far as to declare, “I am frankly appalled at the continued foot-dragging by this administration.”

Obama’s vulnerable tax-and-spend buddies in the Senate are getting the message.

It’s shining proof that pressure from you and other National League of Taxpayers members can move mountains — and given enough pressure, will ultimately make sure that American consumers and businesses reap the benefit of this new, economical oil.
